Joshua Hill, AKA p0sixninja, Leaves The Jailbreak Chronic Dev Team

If there is any news that we don’t like to hear, it is about how developers in the jailbreak community start to get bitter with each others processes and just don’t want to work on jailbreaks anymore.  Of course, this isn’t always the case but the result is always the same: there is one more good fellow out that will make the jailbreaking tool development even slower and with a slightly doubtful future ahead of it.  Perhaps we are exaggerating, but with news that p0sixninja leaving the ever-famous Chronic Dev Team, you can’t help but wonder what the fate of the jailbreak will be.

Sure, there are still tools that are out there to help with the jailbreaking of iPhones, and you can even download them just by signing up with us here with the proper tutorials that will teach you how to use them as well.  But what about the future when iOS6 comes out?  Will the Chronic Dev Team be able to do all their magic without the major player p0sixninja?  Perhaps we give Joshua Hill (p0sixninja’s real name) too much credit for the things that he has helped bring forward for the jailbreak community.  However, you have to realize that it was Joshua and his team of developers who really stuck out of the mold when it came to the need for a jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1.  It stands as one of the greatest jailbreak solutions to date.  And it is also one of the most stable.  That tool was Greenpois0n 4.2.1.

So what happened?  The resignation from the Chronic Dev Team was quite a surprise and even announced through the most mundane of web conduits: Twitter.  And since there are only 140 characters, we are guessing why this is the reason there is no real explanation for Joshua’s leaving the group.  He does mention that he never did join the group or did his work for the money.  We can only speculate that money has anything to do with the conflict of interest.

We can only sit back and hope that the only reason that Joshua left is to create a new super group of developers that will still lend their skills and expertise to the Chronic Dev Team so that we can be furnished with awesome jailbreak tools for future iOS updates.  Until there is any real story or facts behind the split-up, we can only cross our fingers and hope there is some kind of reconciliation.  Then again, maybe p0sixninja just wants to take a break.  We know the stresses of coding and, frankly, there is no doubt how boring it can get.

For now, we wish p0sixninja the best in whatever endeavour he has chosen and hope to see him up and about in the future, kicking jailbreak ass and letting us end-users enjoy all the awesome tweaks and enhancements people like him have let happen in the iOS world.  Cheers to p0sixninja and even to the Chronic Dev Team!  Got something to say about this?  The comments are open below, folks!
