Meet Saga: The Siri And Google Now Mashup Assistant For iPhone

For what almost seems a year and a little bit now, people have been getting used to the idea of having a personal assistant in their pocket with the likes of Siri and the soon Google Now for Android users.  Of course, there is still a long ways to go when it comes to the personal assistant for mobile and technology and solutions for it still seem quite basic and unusable.  But there is one new player in the field that is offering its services to both platforms.  Here we will take a quick look at Saga, the new personal assistant that is an application made for the iOS and Android platforms.

Now, we mentioned that it is a little like Siri and that is a little like Google Now.  It’s like Siri in the sense that it can take voice commands and easily understand what you are trying to tell it so that you can get the result that you want.  It is like Google Now in the sense of the way it was designed with cards as a layout and also it is like Google Now in that it predicts things according to your daily routine.  Sounds like a lot to take in but when you actually use this application, you will definitely start to appreciate what it can do.

So, again it seems like Siri in that it can take voice recognition commands but it is unlike Siri because it actually learns from your daily life and mobile usage.  It then tries to offer assistance before you even request for it.  It will pick up on your routes, for example, and suggest alternatives if it finds better ways for you to get to a certain destination.  The other thing about Saga is that it even takes cues from Foursquare in the sense that there is a kind of game going on that will entertain and inform the user with realtime information.  For example, you can earn points for living and eating a certain way, visiting certain places, etc.  Of course, there is no check-in feature that is like Foursquare, it is only that points system that is similar.  It does have a check-in feature but it is unattended and done automatically which means you can stash your points automatically as well.  This is really well implemented when compared to the likes of Foursquare where you need to remember to open the app and check in; something that can easily be forgotten.

Now, when it comes to data consumption, this can be an application that is not for everyone so make sure that you have an unlimited data plan so that you can put Saga to the test and really use it to its maximum potential.
