iPhone Tips & Tricks #224: How To Turn Off Multiple Text Message Tones

When you receive a message, oftentimes you may forget to check and therefore a second alert for the same message can be helpful.  However, there are some times when you just don’t want to be fooled into thinking that you have more than one text message that just came in.  This can be annoying as well and short of turning off the message tones, you can just make sure that you receive one alert for each message that you do receive.

To do this, all you have to do is launch your Settings application on your iPhone, scroll down and tap on the Messages preference panel, tap on Play Alert Tone and select the number of times you want your alert to go off each time you receive a message.

This works on all iPhone models running iOS5 and above.
