iPhone Tips & Tricks #226: How To Share Photos Using iMessage

One of the best things about iMessage on iOS5 is that it provides you with a way to text message anybody around the world for free, as long as they are on iMessage as well.  Of course, Apple does it even better and allows you to send pictures and videos out for free as well.  All the sender and the receiver needs is a data connection, WIFI or cellular.

To be able to send a picture using the iMessage service, just open the Photos app, tap on a photo that you want to share, tap on the arrow in the bottom left corner, tap on the word Message.  It will open a blank message with the picture in the field where you type your message.  You can add some text just as you would with an MMS.  Then make sure that the Send button is blue that indicates that your recipient is using iMessage.  Tap on send and if your recipient is also online at the time, he or she will receive the photo for free.

This works on all iPhone models that are running iOS5 and above.
