iPhone Tips & Tricks #5: Reviving A Frozen Or Hanging iPhone
Although it is very rare that you will have a phone that hangs on you, the iPhone has had its share of freezing moments when you are in the middle of surfing an app or playing a game. Mostly, this has something to do with memory being used up by a lot of applications. For example, let’s say someone calls you when you are in the middle of a very memory-intensive game like Modern Combat 3. Your iPhone can react it two ways: it lets you take the call or it freezes and nothing you can do can make it “snap out of it.”

This situation can cause one to panic but you don’t have to worry too much. This is not a problem that warrants you to bring your iPhone to the store for repairs. What you need to do is kick it by doing a hard reset.
A hard reset is the kind that doesn’t allow you to power down so pressing the power button to wait for the power of slider is useless. What you need to do is the following:
- Press the top or Power button.
- Without letting go of the Power button, press the home button. It is better if you press both buttons at the same time.
- Keep pressing both buttons until your iPhone turns off.
- Do not let go of the buttons until you see the Apple logo.
- Let your iPhone load and everything will be back to normal.
Doing this will not reset your iPhone to factory settings. It is merely way to clear out memory so that you can start using your iPhone normally again. It is a rare thing to do but you never know when this trick will come in handy. You don’t want to look like a fool who doesn’t know what to do right?
